Rates

Note - for all editing and services other than coaching, I require 50% down payment upfront via Paypal. Thank you! All rates are in United States/American dollars.

1) Coaching - I charge by the hour for coaching and can meet in person if you're in the Maryland/Northern Virginia/D.C. area or can also arrange to meet over Google Hangouts or Skype for remote clients. My rate is typically 35 dollars an hour.

I also offer package rates with discounts. For 5 sessions paid upfront, you'd pay only 150 dollars. If you sign up for ten sessions upfront, you'd only pay 315 dollars.

2) Developmental Editing - This involves making comments about characterization, pacing, plot holes and other macro level issues to help guide draft rewrites. You will get a 2-3 page editorial letter as well, explaining my broad level thoughts on what works, what doesn't, and areas you can target for improvement in subsequent drafts. 

I charge 0.008 USD per word. 

This means that for a 100,000 word novel, you will pay 800 dollars.

3) Line Editing - This involves editing for flow, grammar, syntax and overall structure to help make your copy read cleaner and flow better.

I charge 0.006 USD per word.

This means for a 100,000 word novel, you will pay 600 dollars.

4) Proofreading - this is typo-correction level editing on drafts that have been previously edited and are almost ready for publication. 

I charge 0.0045 USD per word.

This means for a 100,000 word novel, you will pay 450 dollars.

5) Outlines
a)For those done from scratch to client specifications, I charge $200 per outline. 

b)Pre-made outlines are $100 dollars and sold as-is.

6) World building and series outline package - 250 dollars. I will create a world building packet including the rules of your world, major history and political issues, and your main cast of characters. I will also do a back of the book style blurb for each book in your series. If you want further book expansions, they will be covered under full, fleshed out original outline policy above.

7) Beta Reading - $125 dollars for books under 100,000 words. All books over 100,000 words at $150.

8) Sensitivity Reading - I can provide insight for bipolar characters, depressed characters, characters struggling with suicide as well as queer women characters and fat characters.

This would be 0.005 USD per word. So, for example, for a 100,000 word novel, you would pay $500.00

How to Pay

As far as payment, if we meet in person, I take check or cash. If we meet over the internet, I have both a Paypal account as well as Venmo. I do not directly take credit cards, but again can be paid via Venmo or Paypal.

A Note on Payment Policy

Payment is expected within 24 hours of receipt of the completed files. While I do understand that sometimes things happen, if I work to get things in on time, then I expect payment at time of returned product.

Also please note that all down payments are final as they're my operating budget while clearing my schedule to work on your projects. There is no refund on the 50% down payment for any reason.
